PRECINCT DELEGATES ARE NEEDED ACROSS OUR COUNTY NOW!
Are you alarmed to the point of panic about the threats to our democracy and way of life rapidly developing under the current administration? You CAN do something about it.
Precinct Delegates are the heart of our electoral system, and in Oceana County it's very easy to understand how it is organized. Your township is your precinct, and you would be representing your friends and family right in your own neighborhood.
We are sure you all agree that the 2026 Congressional elections will be a turning point for the country. We must gain control of at least one part of Congress to have any hope of saving our democracy from the threats of authoritarianism. The time to start is NOW!
There is a list of suggested activities for Precinct Delegates to support Democratic candidates. But you can choose for yourself how much you want to take on. Precinct Delegates are elected in August 2026. You can file with the Township Clerk by May 2026, and you will be put on the ballot for Democratic primary voters in August. Or, you may choose to run as a write-in candidate, if you would prefer not to be on a ballot. After the election there will be a County or District Convention. BUT — You don’t need to wait until then. You can pitch in now as a Volunteer Delegate and start serving in any capacity you choose until the formal elections.
Precinct Delegates serve as liaisons between Democratic voters in their neighborhood and the Democratic Party. Precinct Delegates represent their neighborhoods at Democratic Party meetings. It is a widely held belief that it is active Precinct Delegates who win elections for the Democratic Party. Oceana has numerous Republican delegates—we need Dems!
As a Precinct Delegate you can start with your friends and neighbors, looking for likely Democratic voters. If you are comfortable with that, you can expand to asking for help with activities like identifying potential candidates for local offices; organizing marches, text and phone campaigns; or canvassing and distributing signs.
All Precinct Delegates must be members of the Michigan Democratic Party. The requirements of the position are outlined in the Rules of the MDP at michigandems.com.
If you would like to know more about the possibilities of becoming a Precinct Delegate, we have current volunteers who would be happy to share their experience with you. There is support and assistance available—maybe find a buddy and both become delegates!

We Need Boots on the Ground Everywhere in Our County – Please Represent Your Party
Hello good people. Here is some information you might find useful. If you are like me, and aren't super knowledgeable about the political schedule, please review this list and do what you can to promote the folks of your choice, or commit to campaigning for a position on this list, early on. WE NEED BOOTS ON THE GROUND! And, we can't afford to wait until the last minute, for obvious reasons. (Please understand that this is a PRELIMINARY list and may change between now and the midterms. We will update it as needed.)
Also, see that little list entry that says "Precinct Delegates?" Yes, that means YOU. We need Precinct Delegates. It's an easy job and you can even start before the midterms. It takes zero experience. And almost zero effort. All you do is have conversations with folks you know about things political that are important to all of us, i.e., cost of living, medical insurance, etc. You can share what you know with them, and share what they know/desire with us. You are not required to do any official reporting or paperwork. This position, while easy, has a profound effect on how successful we are as a party. Grass roots efforts pay off exponentially.
Additionally, any of those local school district positions would be golden for us. As well as the City of Hart positions. Literally, any position on this list will help us exhibit a stronger presence in the county and the state.
We need you. Your country needs you.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. ;-)
