Just be aware, that during the early, in person voting period, which runs from October 26 through November 1, your voting location may be different from your regular voting location. So, make sure to check with your clerk’s office before driving to your voting location during 10/26 through 11/1. if you are trying to vote in person during the early period. Also, if you have not received your absentee ballot in the mail by October 18 and you have requested one or on the permanent absentee ballot list, please call your township clerk’s office.

What Is On Your Ballot?

Due to overlapping local districts and boundaries, ballots vary depending on a person’s residential address. Please use the official Michigan Voter Information Center site page: https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/PublicBallot/Index to enter your address to see a sample ballot for your specific address. Or you can visit your township clerk’s office listed above to get a sample ballot. You may even be able to receive a sample ballot by calling your township clerk and requesting one be sent to you by email.

Keep in mind, the clerks all have different, sometime limited office hours, and are extremely busy during the months leading up and to and even after elections. So, using the website: Michigan Voter Information Center‍ is your best option if you have access to internet.

Information On the Two, State-wide Ballot Proposals You Will See On the Back of Your Ballot

You may have to turn your ballot over to see these. Be aware that is you are voting a straight ticket, you must still independently voted on these two measures.

1) Proposal 1, Constitutional Convention Question: Voters have decided on state constitutional conventions ballot measures across the U.S. As a state ballot measure topic, this refers to measures that propose holding a convention to revise a state’s constitution or to change the rules governing how such conventions are held. The topic is grouped within the governance policy area.

This proposal would begin the process of holding a constitutional convention to revise Michigan’s constitution: By law, this proposal must appear on the ballot every 16 years.

2) Proposal 2, Michigan Utility and Government Contractor Campaign Finance Regulations Initiative: This proposal plans to prohibit certain organizations and individuals—such as regulated electric and gas utilities, contractors with over $250,000 annually in government contracts, and people and organizations with substantial connections to those utilities or contractors—from making direct or indirect contributions to those who run for office, and also provide further regulations for campaign finance laws and spending on political communications.
